Dina Meyer was born and raised in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, but moved to Dix Hills, Long Island in the last year of junior high school. There are two of her siblings: an older brother whose name is Gregory and a younger brother known as Evan. In the years between nine and 16 the first time she was exposed to the industry was when she began modeling. She started her acting training at The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York in which she learned Sanford Meisner's techniques for acting along alongside Ron Stetson, for about three years. Sandra Bullock was among those who received training by this method, as well as Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum Leslie Nielsen and Diane Keaton. When she moved from Los Angeles, she got her first part in Beverly Hills,90210. After securing the lead role on Johnny Mnemonic where she did all of the stunts herself, she positioned herself as an actress that is athletic. The agency she was represented by was Matt LeBlanc, so through her agent for talent, she was able to get a regular part on Friends.
